The BMW 4 Series Convertible is available in four different model options, including the M Sport, M Sport Pro Edition, M440i, and M440d xDrive. The soft-top convertible roof opens and closes seamlessly in under 20 seconds and can be kept open while travelling 30 mph – perfect for weekend cruising.
You’ll find some BMW hard-top convertibles with older models of the BMW Z4 and the BMW 4 Series, but generally today BMW has made the switch to soft-top for its newer car designs. Hardtop convertibles can add a lot of weight to a vehicle, whereas soft-tops are lighter and can look smoother and more premium.
If you can drive with the roof down frequently, a convertible is a very fun driving experience, plus their sporty design looks great. A convertible is worth it for the experience alone if you can regularly drive in the sun on the open road. But if you won’t get any use out of it, consider that convertibles are smaller and less practical compared to other cars.
